Västanå Manor is one of Sweden’s best preserved castle estates and the first manor hotel in the country. The castle was built in 1590 and has operated as a family hotel since 1948. Västanå Manor is located within a 20 minutes drive from Jönköping. From the castle you have a magnificent view on Lake Vättern.
Västanå Manor is perfectly suited for relaxing weekends in beautiful surroundings with a great cuisine and fine wines. Play tennis on our court free of charge, challenge yourself on the nearby 18-hole golf course or simply enjoy the wonderful scenery.
Breakfast and dinner is served at the castle, prepared using locally produced ingredients. Golfing guests can be provided with a breakfast package. For lunch we recommend the nearby golf club restaurant. The Västanå Manor restaurant caters for parties and weddings, and can offer lunch for groups (minimum 15 guests).
Västanå Castle is open between April and December. Guests are invited to join comfortable rooms and tastefully decorated common rooms.
Golf & activities
Gränna Golf Club is located adjacent to the Manor. The 18-hole golf course is one of the most popular in southern Sweden.
The beautiful surroundings are perfect for longer or shorter excursions. The idyllic medievel village of Röttle is idyllic and located just below the ravines of Västanå. From Röttle a beautiful nature trail stretches through the nature reserve on the banks of Vättern. From the port in Gränna, located three kilometers from Västanå, you can reach the historical island Visingsö in about 30 minutes.
Conference & weddings
Västanå Manor is pleased to arrange weddings and conferences. The manor can accomodate 110 wedding guests and 60 conference guests. Feel free to consultate us anytime.

Fredrik von Otter is the third generation of his family to manage Vastanå Manor and the ninth generation owner. Västanå Castle was built around 1590 by Count Sten Bielke. In 1641, Count Per Brahe became the new owner. He incorporated Västanå into Brahe County, the first and largest county in Sweden at the time. Västanå was restored 1767–1770 by the Baron Rutger Bennet and the stair-tower and baroque gables were torn down. The present owner is a decendent of Colonel Fredric Gyllensvaan who bought the manor in 1785 and established an entailed estate. In 1928, he demolished the third floor and the castle acquired its present exterior.
